- The deer roar (or rut) season begins around this time, with spectacular hunting for trophy bucks of many species

- Deer hunting for trophy bucks in its prime

- Beginning of the very popular waterfowl and upland game bird season in the Bay of Plenty.
- Waterfowl season ends June 30th - Upland game bird season ends August 31st
- Pheasant, quail and duck shooting in its prime
